CONCRETE HOME TOUR
This is a concrete home! It looks exactly like a stick built - or wood framed home on the outside but is much stronger and more energy efficient.
The ICF Advantage....
Lower Energy Costs: Energy savings is built into every ICF home thru high wall R-Values and low air infiltration. It is believed to account for an amazing 25-50% energy savings over wood or steel-framed homes.
Peace and Quiet: ICF homes are unbelievably quiet compared to stick-built homes.
Solid and Lasting Security: ICF homes not only give a remarkably solid "feel" to the home but they are safer. Concrete homes have a proven track record of withstanding the ravages of hurricanes, tornadoes and fires.
Less Repair and Maintenance: Insulating Concrete Forms will not rot. No Rot = Less Repair and Maintenance.
A Healthier Home and Environment: Building with ICFs is healthy. Tthe measurement of the air contents of actual ICF homes shows an almost complete absence of any emissions.
Versatile and Flexible Design: ICF systems accommodate any of today's most popular design features, such as tall walls, angled walls, large openings, long floor spans and cathedral ceilings.
Cost Competitive: It is estimated that the cost of an ICF home is only 5% higher than stick framed.
The walls in this home range from 11" thick on the main level to 14" thick in the lower walkout level. The window and door jambs are deeper but the products used to "finish" the interior and exterior are used in a lot of homes built today. We have found that the heating and cooling costs of this home are far less than we ever imagined. The benefits of concrete ICF are extraordinary. We would recommend it to anyone looking to build.
